MARINOFF FLIES HIGH TO TAKE 2024 COACHES AWARD

Friday, Nov 8, 2024

A dominant season from Adelaide star midfielder EBONY MARINOFF has seen the Crows’ co-captain rewarded with her first AFL COACHES ASSOCIATION AFLW CHAMPION PLAYER OF THE YEAR award.

Considered among the top players across the League since the competition’s inception in 2017, Marinoff won her maiden AFLCA Champion Player Award with 91 votes, ahead of three-time award winner Jasmine Garner who finished second on 79 votes and Garner’s Kangaroos teammate Ashleigh Riddell in third on 77 votes.

Marinoff polled votes in all eleven matches of the 2024 season, punctuated by three perfect tens.

A triple premiership player, six-time All-Australian, dual club champion at the Crows, Marinoff remarkably took her game to a new level in 2024, largely off the back of her strong work rate with and without the football.

Marinoff averaged a competition-high 30.4 disposals and 12.4 tackles, along with a career-high 6.5 clearances this season.

ROUND 8, 9, 10 VOTES & FINAL LEADERBOARD

AFL Coaches Association CEO Alistair Nicholson congratulated Marinoff on being crowned the 2024 AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year.

“Ebony has performed to an incredibly high level this season to win her first AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award. To poll votes in every match and three perfect tens is an amazing effort," Nicholson said.

"The coaches have a unique perspective on what succeeds in each of the games which combined with the thought that goes into allocating the votes makes this one of the most prestigious of all the individual Awards.

“Ebony should be very proud to receive this Award from the coaches. Congratulations Ebony.”

Adelaide coach Matthew Clarke said it was pleasing to see Marinoff receive the plaudits from opposition coaches.

“Ebony is such an important player and leader for us and very deserving of recognition for what has been an outstanding season so far,” Clarke said.

“Her consistency has been impressive, and she works extremely hard to improve herself and her teammates.

“We know that what drives Ebony most is team success and we are excited to see her continue her great form in the upcoming finals series.”
