AFL COACHES ASSOCIATION AFLW CHAMPION PLAYER OF THE YEAR
A superb 2023 season has seen North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos star JASMINE GARNER win back-to-back AFL COACHES ASSOCIATION AFLW CHAMPION PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
One of the most accomplished players in the competition’s history, Garner won her third Coaches Champion Player Award with 81 votes ahead of Sydney Swans forward Laura Gardiner who finished second on 74 votes and Brisbane’s Ally Anderson, third on 65 votes.

Garner polled coaches votes in all of the 2023 matches this season, earning maximum coaches votes in five rounds.
Week after week Garner consistently produced the complete midfielders game with her on-field skill leading the Kangaroos engine room into another finals series. Garner’s standout match came in Round 7 against Port Adelaide where she amassed a career-high 39 disposals and set an AFLW record of 789 metres gained. In 2023 Garner averaged 30 disposals, 7 clearances, 543 metres gained and a goal per match.
AFL Coaches Association CEO Alistair Nicholson congratulated Garner on her season and being crowned the AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year again in 2023.
“Jasmine continues to wow the competition performing to an incredibly high standard season after season. Winning back-to-back AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year Awards and her third in her career is incredible," said Nicholson.
"Jasmine should be very proud to be recognised by the coaches again with this Award, she polled five perfect scores and votes in every match of the season which is an outstanding feat. The coaches have a unique perspective on what succeeds in each of the games which combined with the thought that goes into allocating the votes makes this one of the most prestigious of all the individual Awards.”
North Melbourne coach Darren Crocker congratulated Garner on the Award.
“We feel so lucky to have Jas at our club and to have had a front-row seat to another outstanding season by her,” said Crocker.
“She is a special player, and to win this award for a third time is great recognition of her constant drive to get better and be the best she can be for the team.”
